ESU Gallery Exhibit Steven Rost

East Stroudsburg University’s Madelon Powers Gallery will present Crossing the Double Yellow Line from Wednesday, November 9 – Friday, December 9. The exhibit will feature photography by Steven Rost, a professor, practicing artist, and former chair of the department of art and design in the College of Architecture and Design at Lawrence Technological University, and will explore the risk one takes when trying to maintain forward momentum. In compiling the years of images, Rost presents searching and forward motion, but also the moments of reflection. His work expands those moments by waking up the senses, exploring and engaging with the sense of place through synesthesia.

During this same time, an exhibition by Marc Klopfenstein, a senior majoring in integrated art + design from Bartonsville, Pa., will be on the Gallery’s Mezzanine. Klopfenstein will be showcasing a variety of approaches and mediums to represent the journey that defines him artistically.

Hours for the gallery, located in the university’s Fine and Performing Arts Center, Normal and Marguerite streets, are Monday – Friday, 11 a.m. – 4 p.m.

A reception for the artists will be held Wednesday, November 9 from 4-6 p.m. in the gallery. Both the exhibit and reception are open to the public at no cost.

Rost will present an artist talk on Wednesday, November 9 at 10 a.m. in the Dale Snow Theater located in the Fine and Performing Arts Building.

For more information on the exhibit or reception, contact the Fine and Performing Arts Center at esuarts@esu.edu or call (570) 422-3694 or email kdevine5@esu.edu.
